Angela's Building Now Open
ANGELA’S BUILDING
Angela Renee Montgomery, daughter of Ed and Saundra Montgomery, passed away at the age of fourteen after a seven-year battle with cancer. She participated in the dance and arts programs in the ALC Educational Center at 11230 Harwin (a previous Montessori School).
It was her dream to see all youth discover their full potential. Angela’s Building is a community facility dedicated to help young, yet promising talent discover, enhance and develop their talent, ability and potential. Angela’s Building was designed with the whole family in mind. While children and teens are our focal point, the building will ultimately cater to all ages. There will also be singles and couples events, movie nights, family fun days or a chance for you to relax in our café or gourmet coffee bar.
THE POTENTIAL CENTER
Although Angela’s full potential may not have been realized on this earth, her dream to see others’ potential fulfilled can be realized through this section of the building.
Housed in the east wing of Angela’s Building is “The Potential Center”. Dr. Ed Montgomery, Sr. Pastor of ALC, modeled “The Potential Center” from his experience growing up in the arts community of Cleveland, Ohio. “I would walk into one building and see many rooms, each bubbling with its own expression of creativity. All my senses were captivated at once. The building was filled with enjoyable music, the melodious sound of young passionate vocalists, the sight of breath-taking paintings/sculptures, and the rhythmic movement of dance. It stirred my imagination forever. Saundra and I wanted to recreate this experience for Houston.”
“The Potential Center” will house an array of programs that teach the valuable connection between talent, passion, spirit, and character. Programs will include:
Vocal Drama/Acting Dance (Spiritual Expression, Jazz, Hip Hop, Ballroom, and more) Music Theory/Production Fitness
